Important announcements out of the 4th National Hepatitis Conference Malaysia
An announcement effecting hepatits C management in Malaysia, which was made at their 4th National Hepatitis Conference last week, will have implications for models of hepatitis C treatment in the Asia-pacific region, and in fact globally.
Royal Melbourne Hospital Clinician Researcher Professor Ben Cowie, Director of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Viral Hepatitis at the Doherty Institute, attended the conference, and had the opportunity to discuss the announcement with three people who have been centrally involved in the hepatitis response so far in Malaysia.
Professor Cowie is joined by Jean-Michel Piedgnel, DNDi's South-East Asia office, Dr Rangarajan Sampath, Chief Scientific Officer at FIND, Dr Hjh. Rosaida Hj. Md. Said, Chairperson of National Hepatitis Committee (Malaysia) & Senior Consultant Gastroenterologist & Head of Medical Department, Hospital Ampang to discuss the announcement and what it will mean for Malaysia and the wider Asia-Pacific region.
