South Sudanese hip-hop artist fighting hep B, one rhyme at a time
A new hip-hop song and music video is encouraging members of Melbourne’s South Sudanese community to get tested for hepatitis B and help prevent unnecessary deaths from liver cancer.
The catchy song encourages the community to get tested and treated or vaccinated, and support loved ones who have been diagnosed and need some encouragement.
Cancer Council Victoria and South Sudanese Australian Youth United (SSAYU) led the project, in collaboration with members of the South Sudanese community. The original song was composed and recorded by Malesh P and produced by 7'6. The music video was directed and produced by Ez Eldin Deng.
