James Trauer is a practising respiratory, sleep, general and public health physician currently completing a PhD in mathematical modelling for tuberculosis control. Previously based at the Northern Territory Centre for Disease Control, since returning to Melbourne he has focused on quantitative methods to inform tuberculosis control, undertaking projects to guide developing countries in the Asia-Pacific region. As an epidemiologist for the Victorian Tuberculosis Program, he is also working to establish OptimaTB, an interactive software platform for tuberculosis programs in highly endemic regions. He also co-supervises two PhD students.
