Bacterial and Parasitic Infections
Bacterial and parasitic infections are constant threats to the health of humans and animals globally. Serious infections can be life-threatening and cause substantial life-long disabilities. Treatments for these diseases have grown increasingly challenging as antimicrobial resistance becomes more common in community settings.
The Doherty Institute is home to many researchers focused on bacterial and parasitic infections, such as the streptococci, tuberculosis, malaria, Buruli ulcer, and more. Our researchers use cutting-edge technologies and methods to investigate the molecular basis of bacterial and parasitic diseases, transmission, developing novel therapeutics and vaccines, and addressing public health concerns.
