Tim is a research scientist with 10+ years experience in both innate cellular Immunology spanning the academic research and clinical trials sectors. He completed his doctorate at Monash University in 2019, with research examining the innate immune detection of pathogenic microbes. His current research is now focussed on cell signalling pathways regulating survival of the innate-like mucosal associated invariant T (MAIT) cells, and other unconventional T cells.

Tim is passionate about medical research and education, with experience in supervising both research staff and students within the laboratory setting, and educational settings as a university tutor.

  • Key Achievements
    • Over his research career to date, Tim has published seven articles in high impact journals, including two first author original research articles. Collectively, his authored publications have achieved more than 200 citations.

The significance of Tim's research findings has been recognised by the journal Immunology & Cell Biology Immunology, with his research article being ranked in the Top 10 original published between July 2019 and June 2020 (as selected by the journal’s editor), and subsequently placing as runner up for the journal’s publication of the year award.

Our team study mucosal-associated invariant T (MAIT) cells. We seek to understand how vitamin-based antigens are produced by microorganisms, how MAIT cells detect these antigens and how we can manipulate MAIT cell functions to improve outcomes in infectious and non-infectious diseases.
