Sharing the lessons of Australia’s antimicrobial stewardship: NCAS international engagement
Global awareness of antibiotic resistance is on the rise, and clinicians and policymakers around the world are paying close attention to the problem of inappropriate antimicrobial use. So it’s been a busy year for the National Centre for Antimicrobial Stewardship (NCAS), based at the Doherty Institute, as it shares its expertise on this significant problem.
NCAS (an NHMRC Centre of Research Excellence) and Guidance, Melbourne Health’s antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) implementation team, have taken part in a number of international events. Australian AMS initiatives to improve antimicrobial prescribing and optimise treatment are gaining recognition internationally.
