Discover our 2023 Impact Report
2023 was a year of significant progress for the Doherty Institute and our Impact Report showcases the major advancements we’ve made in research, public health and education in infection and immunity.
The Report highlights the breadth and depth of our work. Some of our key achievements in 2023 include uncovering how Golden staph evades the immune system; the development of a next generation MPOX test that can diagnose the virus in just 45 minutes; delivering capacity building programs in the region; and launching innovative subjects for Masters students, featuring a cutting-edge virtual reality workshop in virology. We also celebrated milestones for the Australian Institute for Infectious Disease, Doherty Clinical Trials Ltd and the Cumming Global Centre for Pandemic Therapeutics.
The University of Melbourne’s Professor Sharon Lewin, Director of the Doherty Institute, expressed her pride in the commitment and pursuit of excellence by everyone at the Institute, and the contributions of our supporters and collaborators.
“I am honoured to work with such a passionate dedicated team at the Doherty Institute and proud to collaborate with our global network of partners, supporters, stakeholders and donors. Together, we are making a lasting impact on health globally,” said Professor Lewin.
