At this event Professor Clare Jolly, WellcomeTrust Investigator from University College, London will present Understanding a pandemic virus: SARS-CoV-2 vs innate immunity.

About Professor Clare Jolly

Clare is a Professor of Virus Cell Biology at University College London and a Wellcome Trust Investigator. Her research is focused on virus-host interactions, specifically the cellular and molecular mechanisms regulating HIV-1 infection and spread between T cells. Current work aims to understand what makes a T cell permissive to HIV-1 infection and how the virus reprograms T cells to support viral pathogenesis and persistence. Her group is also working on SARS-CoV-2 virus-host interactions with emphasis on innate immunity, seeking to understand mechanisms by which VOCs have evolved to better suppress and evade human innate immune sensing and antiviral restriction factors.
