Visiting guest speaker Dr Jintanat Ananworanich from the Military HIV Research Program, Maryland, USA, will speak to Acute HIV and HIV cure research: Lessons learned from the RV254 Thai study. This presentation will include data from the RV254 acute HIV infection study and its associated HIV remission trials in Thailand to address the following:
- The effects pf timing of ART during acute infection on clinical, virology and immunologic outcomes,
- The effects of early ARTon viral load rebound kinetics following treatment interruption in HIV remission trials,
- Decision making and perception of joiners and decliners of HIV remission trials, 4
- Future strategies
Dr. Jintanat Ananworanich is Associate Director for Therapeutics Research for the US Military HIV Research Program in Maryland and Co-Director of SEARCH at the Thai Red Cross AIDS Research Center in Bangkok. She is Professor of Medicine at the Department of Global Health, the University of Amsterdam and Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.
Dr. Ananworanich’s primary research interests are in acute HIV infection, early treatment, neuro AIDS and HIV cure in children and adults. She has collaborated with Professor Sharon Lewin for many years on HIV-NAT ARV clinical trials, and more recently, the HIV cure studies in Thailand including the SEARCH 019 study and the International NeuroHIV Cure Consortium that Professor Lewin serves on the advisory panel.
