Applicants wishing to apply for a PhD or MPhil at the Doherty Institute should follow the steps below:
Step 1: Identify a principle supervisor and research project of interest via the research project page.
Step 2: Make contact with the potential supervisor via email. To do so simply follow the prompts on the respective research project page. Please include the following documents in your email (hardcopies are not required):
- Letter of motivation
- CV
- Translated university transcripts (English language), including courses taken and
marks/credits awarded (transcripts of both undergraduate and postgraduate university
certificates are required)
- If available, English language test certificates
- Reference
Step 3: The information in step 2 will help the supervisor to evaluate your potential. If endorsed by the supervisor, make an application to The University of Melbourne. Please provide all of the information in the application form as incomplete applications may otherwise not be considered.
Step 4: Once complete and lodged, your application will be assessed by the supervisor and the enrolling Faculty (usually the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health).
