The Equity in Science (EQiS) Committee was established in 2017 to support a diverse and empowered workforce. EQiS strive towards addressing equity issues, including gender, age, sexuality, (dis)ability and cultural background. The committee has a number of initiatives and activities that build skills and practices to minimise discrimination, optimise career development opportunities and foster diversity at the Institute. In 2018, the inaugural EQiS Diversity Award was established, awarding two grants towards professional development activities supporting diversity in the Doherty Institute workforce. These activities are considered central to the objectives of the Institute to pursue scientific excellence and social impact.
